Patna, January 29, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has convened a cabinet meeting for the second time this month.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 4.30 pm in the Samvad Hall on 4 Deshratna Marg in Patna.

Usually, cabinet meetings take place in the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, but this time the venue has been shifted to Samvad Hall.

According to the letter issued by the Cabinet Secretariat Department, the presence of all cabinet ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers has been made mandatory.

Departmental officers have also been instructed to remain present with full preparations.

The timing of the meeting is considered significant as it coincides with the conclusion of the second phase of the Chief Minister’s Samriddhi Yatra (Prosperity Journey).

Nitish Kumar’s second phase Samriddhi Yatra will conclude in Samastipur:

The Yatra concludes today at Samastipur, during which Nitish Kumar laid foundation stones and inaugurated development projects across the district.

He has already visited Madhubani, Darbhanga in the Mithilanchal districts.

The Chief Minister is expected to chair the meeting after returning from the Yatra.

Earlier, the cabinet meeting held on January 13, as many as 41 proposals were approved.

Key decisions included approval of 694 posts in the Agriculture Department, creation of 200 posts in the Dairy, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Department, and 106 new posts in the Science and Technology Department.

The cabinet approved a new scheme worth Rs 33.29 crore for the construction of a 20 KV DC transmission line to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) Gaya Ji, under the Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited.

The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 314.20 crore for the construction of Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai, aimed at providing accommodation and facilities for people from Bihar visiting the financial capital.

The Bihar government has pledged to provide one crore jobs over five years.

Schemes likely to be approved from Samriddhi Yatra:

Since the previous meeting focused on recruitment across departments, expectations are high that announcements may be made regarding contractual employees, government jobs, or fresh departmental requirements.

Schemes announced during the Samriddhi Yatra are also likely to receive formal cabinet approval.

The Nitish Kumar government continues to emphasize fast-tracked development through administrative and policy decisions. Holding a second cabinet meeting within the same month reflects the government’s priorities, with focus likely on clearing pending files, approving departmental schemes, and addressing public interest issues.

Decisions emerging from the meeting are expected to provide relief to Bihar’s youth and the general public.
