Patna, January 3, 2026: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD has convened an important organizational meeting on Saturday at the Karpoori Auditorium of the party’s state office in Patna, even as Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav remains absent.
The meeting is being chaired by RJD state president Mangani Lal Mandal.
The timing of the meeting is politically significant as tensions continue to simmer between RJD and Congress within the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance).
Recently, Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan openly stated that Congress should reconsider continuing its alliance with RJD, adding to the strain between the two parties.
RJD will focus on organizational review and grassroots strengthening:
According to RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan, the meeting will be held around 1.00 pm on Saturday, and the division in charge, the district in charge, and other key leaders will participate.
The primary agenda is to review the party’s organizational position after the Bihar Assembly elections and chalk out the plan to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Sources indicate that coordination within the Mahagathbandhan and future political strategy may also come up for discussion during the meeting, especially in light of recent remarks by Congress leaders.
The meeting will also review preparation for the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur on January 24.
Chitranjan Gagan said that district-wise reports on preparations will be obtained.
“A detailed report will be taken from the district in charge regarding preparations for Karpoori Thakur’s birth anniversary celebrations across Bihar,” Gagan said.
Tejashwi Yadav is expected to return to Delhi tonight:
Tejashwi Yadav has been out of Bihar for nearly a month, with speculation that he has been abroad with his family.
He is not attending the January 3 meeting and is expected to return to Delhi tonight. He is expected to return to Patna after one or two days.
Party sources indicate that final political and organizational decisions will be taken after his return, based on the report of this meeting.
