Patna, November 15, 2025: Jan Suraaj Party National President Uday Singh on Saturday levelled serious allegations against the Bihar government, claiming that the NDA’s sweeping majority in the 2025 Assembly elections was purchased using funds.
Speaking at the press conference at Sheikhpura House on Bailey Road, Patna, Singh alleged that the state government spent really Rs 40,000 crore to secure votes.
“Public votes have been bought with public money,” he said, further claiming that Rs 14,000 crore from a World Bank loan was also used for cash transfers.
He said such attempts to influence elections had been seen before in the country, but this is the first time such a massive amount has been spent to secure an overwhelming majority.”
According to him, this expenditure has left the government with no money for essential sectors like education, employment, and health.
Uday Singh defended Prashant Kishor:
Responding to the question on Prashant Kishor’s earlier prediction that JDU would struggle to cross 25 seats, Singh said that circumstances had changed dramatically.
“When the government opened its coffers and began buying votes, their increase in seats became inevitable,” he alleged.
Despite his allegation, Uday Singh congratulated the NDA for its victory and extended best wishes to the upcoming government.
He urged the leadership to ensure a clean government and remove tainted ministers from the cabinet.
He added that both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister had spoken about issues raised by Jan Suraaj, and the party would closely monitor the government’s progress on those commitments.
Jan Suraaj to play of external opposition:
Uday Singh emphasized that Jan Suraaj would continue working with the same determination with which it was founded, to bring about systematic change in Bihar.
“Even though we will not be inside the Assembly, the people of Bihar will see Jan Suraaj as a strong opposition,” he said.
Reflecting on the party’s poor performance, Uday Singh admitted that the results were disappointing, but he was not disheartened.
He claimed that many voters shifted to the NDA at the last moment due to fear that voting for Jan Suraaj might indirectly help the RJD return to power.
Senior party leader and state president Manoj Bharti, Saurabh Singh Kushwaha, Sarwar Ali and state media in-charge Obaidur Rahman were also present at the press conference.
