Patna, June 24, 2024: After the CBI registered an FIR in the NEET question paper leak case, a two-member team of the agency reached the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) office of the Bihar Police in Patna on Monday.

Officials arrived in a white Innova to meet EOU officers and begin the process of formally taking over the investigation documents and evidence.

The CBI teams reached Patna on Sunday night:

According to sources, two CBI teams had already reached Patna on Sunday night and had contacted EOU officials regarding the case. After collecting the reports, the CBI will study the material and proceed with its own investigation.

The NEET question paper leak was first detected by Patna Police on May 5, the day the exam was conducted–and an FIR was lodged at Shastri Nagar police station. The case was later transferred to the EOU for further investigation.

The EOU has arrested 19 persons in the case:

So far, the EOU has arrested 19 persons in the case. Of them, 13—including six alleged exam mafias, four candidates and three parents—were arrested by Patna Police on May 5, while another six alleged exam mafias were arrested by the EOU from Deoghar in Jharkhand on Sunday evening.

The EOU has recorded the statements of the arrested persons and has attached evidence, including partially burnt question papers, Aadhar cards, booking details of an NHAI guest house and a learn Play school, booklet numbers of the leaked papers, and other materials in its report.

All these documents and evidence are being handed over to the CBI.
