Chandigarh, May 29, 2026: Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Friday attended a special screening of the film Nalanda Mahavihara organized at Lok Bhavan in Chandigarh.
The first lady of Haryana, Mitra Ghosh, also graced the occasion with her presence.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh described the film as a sincere and commendable effort to preserve and promote India’s rich cultural and historical heritage through the powerful medium of cinema.
Ashim Kumar Ghosh described the glorious history of Nalanda University, located in Bihar:
He stated that Nalanda was not merely an educational institution, but a globally renowned centre of learning that attracted scholars, monks, and seekers of knowledge from across the world.
According to him, Nalanda continues to stand as a timeless symbol of India’s intellectual excellence and cultural eminence.
Ashim Kumar Ghosh said that the Primary objective of the film is to create awareness among the public and encourage reflection on the enduring values that contribute toward building a better, more responsible, and harmonious society.
Nalanda Mahavihara has given a social message to society besides entertainment:
He observed that Nalanda Mahavihara successfully combines entertainment with a meaningful social message, making it culturally significant as well as socially relevant in contemporary times.
The film has been produced by Deepak Diwan and directed by Arvind Gupta.
Several distinguished personalities attended the screening, including former chief secretary of Haryana Keshni Anand Arora, Secretary to the Governor Vijaykumar Bhavikatti, and ADC to the Governor Dheeraj Setia, along with members of the film’s cast and crew.
The event highlighted the growing importance of cinema as a medium for preserving India’s civilizational heritage and promoting awareness about the country’s historical legacy among younger generations.
