The Election Commission has recorded 9.53% polling in Bihar by-poll till 9 a.m.

Patna November 13, 2024: Polling for by-election in four seats in Bihar—Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj and Imamganj—began at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
As of 9 a . m, the Election Commission of India has recorded an average voter turnout of 9.53% across these constituencies in the first two hours.
The Election Commission has registered the highest polling in Ramgarh:
Ramgarh led with the highest turnout at 11.35%, followed by Tarari at 9.3%, Belaganj at 9.12% and Imamganj at 8.46%.
As per the Election Commission, polling hours differ slightly across the constituencies: voting will continue until 5 p.m. in Ramgarh, Tarari and Belaganj while in Imamganj in Gaya district, polling will conclude an hour earlier, at 4 a.m.
Three seats were previously held by the Grand Alliance:
These by-polls are seen as significant because three of the four seats were previously held by the Grand Alliance, a coalition led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) with allied leftist parties. According to the election commission scheduled, the counting will take place on November 23.
Ramgarh’s seat in Kaimur district was vacated by Sudhakar Singh of RJD, who resigned after winning the Buxar Lok Sabha seat.
Tarari assembly seat was formerly held by CPI-ML leader Sudama Prasad, who won the Arrah parliamentary seat and subsequently resigned from the MLA position.
Belaganj in Gaya district was vacated by RJD leader Surendra Prasad Yadav after he won the Jehanabad Lok Sabha seat.
Imamganj seat was previously held by Jitan Ram Manjhi, former Chief Minister of Bihar and the leader of Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS), who resigned after winning the Gaya (reserved) parliamentary seat.
A total of 12 lakhs, 02 thousand and 063 voters will decide the fate of 38 candidates in these four constituencies.
Two candidates are contesting on the tickets of BSP, 3 candidates on RJD, 2 candidates on BJP and one each from JD(U), CPI-ML and HAMS.
