Cabinet approved the funding for the Sankar Eye Foundation Hospital:

The cabinet, chaired by CM Nitish Kumar on December 3, approved the construction of the hospital. A total of Rs 48 crore has been allocated to transfer 1.6 acres of land owned by the Bihar State Housing Board to the Health Department for a 99-year lease.

This land will be provided to the Sankara Eye Foundation for a token sum of Rs 1.

The hospital is expected to be completed within 18 months. The Coimbatore-based Sankara Eye Foundation India will oversee the construction.

Affordable Eye Care in Sankara Eye Foundation:

According to Bihar health minister Mangal Pandey, 75% of patients will receive free treatment in this facility. The free care will be available to individuals with an annual income below Rs 2.5 lakh, while others will pay for treatment.
