Prashant Kishor claimed JD(U) would struggle to win 20 seats in the next assembly poll.
Patna, October 7, 2024: Prashant Kishor, the leader of Jan Suraj Party, deliver a sharp critique of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar claiming that his party, the Janata Dal (United), would struggle to win even 20 seats in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
This statement comes after Nitish Kumar boldly asserted that his alliance NDA, would secure 220 seats in the forthcoming election.
“The public in Bihar are frustrated with Nitish Kumar’s leadership, particularly with what the “Officers Raj”—the overreliance on bureaucrats. Dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister’s governance has reached a tipping point and that the people are prepared to “teach a lesion” to both Nitish Kumar and BJP in the upcoming assembly election,” he said.
Furthermore, Prashant Kishor took swipe at the BJP, suggesting that it had become reliant on Nitish Kumar despite recognizing that he has become a “Political Burden”.
“If this scenario unfolds, with Nitish Kumar as the face of the NDA in Bihar, it would be a fortunate situation for his own party, Jan Suraj. I even challenge the BJP to declare Nitish Kumar as its Chief Ministerial candidate in the 2025 assembly election,” he said.
Prashant Kishor asserted that doing so would result in a similar outcome to the 2020 assembly election, where JD(U)’s performance was lacklustre.
He added that both JD(U) and BJP would meet the same fate in 2025, facing public backlash due to dissatisfaction with Nitish Kumar’s governance.
“The BJP prioritizing political gain at the national level, and hence they handed Bihar over to Nitish Kumar out of greed for a few Members of parliament. Instead of addressing issues concerning the youth and future of Bihar, the BJP chose to maintain an alliance with Nitish Kumar, which would ultimately hurt them. I firmly believe that the people of Bihar are ready to hold both the JD(U) and BJP accountable in the 2025 assembly election,” Kishor said.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Saturday, said that the NDA will emerge victorious with a significant majority, winning 220 seats.
This back-to-forth marks the intensifying political climate as the Bihar assembly elections approach.
