Patna September 27, 2024: Nitish Mishra, the tourism minister of Bihar highlighted the state government’s commitment to advancing the tourism sector of the state on Friday.
Nitish Mishra emphasized that Bihar is steadily gaining recognition on the national stage due to various developmental efforts in the tourism domain.
“We have taken several key initiatives aimed at improving tourism infrastructure, including the construction of modern hotels, development of tourist structures and better transportation facilities. One notable initiative is the construction of ropeways at key tourist destinations to enhance accessibility,” Nitish Mishra said.
These efforts, he stated, have led to a significant rise in both domestic and foreign tourist numbers.
“In the year 2023, about 5.46 lakh foreign tourists have visited the state. Till July 2024, a total of 2.67 lakh foreign tourists have visited the state. Currently, devotees from all over the country are coming to Bihar for the last Shravani Mela and the ongoing Pitru Paksha Mela in Gaya,” he said.
Nitish Mishra outlined the government’s efforts to develop Mata Janaki’s birthplace, noting that 50 acres of land have been acquired for its expansion. Additionally, the state aims to elevate the traditional Chhath festival into a national tourism event, with plans to offer tour packages so people across the country can experience the celebration first hand.
A new initiative, the competition titled “Mera Block Mera Gaurav” will spotlight one tourist destination in each block. Simultaneously, Bihar: Ek Influencer Ki Nazar Se” will encourage social media influencers to participate and promote Bihar’s tourism. Both programs are set to begin from October 2 onwards.
In addition, Lokesh Kumar Singh, secretary of the tourism department elaborated on the tourism policy, emphasizing the availability of capital subsidies on 18 different tourism-related schemes, appealing to entrepreneurs to invest in Bihar’s growing tourism industry.
