New Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal launched in Pasraha, boosting Bihar food logistics.

Patna, May 3, 2025: In a major stride towards enhancing logistics infrastructure under Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the Indian Railway and Leap Agri Logistics Khagaria Private Limited have signed a formal agreement to operationalize a new Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCTO) near Pasraha railway station on Saturday.
This marked the third GCTO under the Sonpur Division and is expected to significantly boost food grain transportation, especially for the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
Features and impact of New Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal:
The terminal is expected to dispatch 25 to 30 rakes of food grains per month, reinforcing food security in the region.
The facility boost four-state-of-the-art silos each with a 12500 MT capacity, offering a combined storage potential of 50,000MT.

It has an advance technical setup that will enable faster and more efficient loading/unloading operations, crucial for time-sensitive food logistics.
The initiative is projected to create about 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, providing a major economic boost to rural Bihar. The agreement was signed between P Srinivasan, the DGM of Leap India and Roshan Kumar, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of the Sonpur division in presence of leap India deputy manager Eklakh Ul Rehman.
More terminals in the pipeline:
The Sonpur Division plans to open three more GCTO terminals this year at Silaut, Chak Sikandar and Turki station, expanding the logistic network further under the Gati Shakti Vision.

This development not only ensure better food grain movement but also strengthen Bihar’s emergence as a logistics and agribusiness hub.
