Chandigarh, May 4, 2026: The second convocation ceremony of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLSUPVA) was held on Monday with great enthusiasm and academic pride.

A total of 760 students from various batches and disciplines were conferred undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

The ceremony was presided over by the Chancellor of the University and Governor of Haryana, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh.

Among the distinguished guests present were First Lady Mitra Ghosh, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, and OSD to the Chief Minister Dr. Raj Nehru.

Addressing the gathering, Chancellor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh emphasized the need for DLSUPVA to strengthen collaborations with international art institutions and actively participate in global cultural exchanges.

He noted that such initiatives would position Haryana as a significant contributor to the global artistic landscape.

Congratulating the students, he highlighted that India’s higher education system—one of the largest in the world—currently serves over 40 million students.

He added that institutions like DLSUPVA are not merely conferring degrees but nurturing creative leaders across fields such as performing and visual arts, fashion and textile design, film and television, and architecture.

DLSUPVA is celebrating cultural heritage and innovation:

The Governor also underlined the growing recognition of Haryana’s artists at the national level.

From folk traditions to theatre and dance, Haryanvi culture is gaining widespread appreciation, signaling a cultural resurgence.

He urged DLSUPVA students to balance innovation with a deep connection to their roots.

Paying tribute to Data Lakhmi Chand, after whom the university is named, he said the legendary poet’s legacy continues to inspire generations.

Quoting Rabindranath Tagore, he remarked that true education harmonizes life with all existence, encouraging students to become ambassadors of culture and creativity.

Education Minister urges students to become job creators:

Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda congratulated the graduates and described the university as the heart of Haryana’s art and cultural ecosystem.

He emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the state is focusing on transforming institutions into skill development hubs.

Encouraging students, he said, they must aim not only to seek jobs but to create employment opportunities.

He stressed the importance of human values, ethics, and emotional intelligence in an era dominated by technology and AI.

He also praised Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya for his contribution to nurturing young talent.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya welcomed the guests and described the convocation as a significant milestone marking both the culmination of academic efforts and the beginning of new opportunities.

He emphasized that DLSUPVA focuses on holistic development—shaping students into knowledgeable, ethical, and socially responsible citizens.

 He expressed gratitude to faculty, staff, and parents for their role in the students’ success and encouraged graduates to uphold values and contribute positively to society.

The ceremony was also attended by several eminent personalities, including Manish Grover, Ramavatar, Balmiki, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi, Prof. Shri Prakash Singh, Prof. Milap Punia, Dr. H.K. Agrawal, and others.

The convocation ceremony not only celebrated academic achievements but also reinforced the university’s commitment to nurturing creativity, cultural heritage, and leadership.

Graduating students were encouraged to carry forward the rich artistic legacy of Haryana while contributing meaningfully to society.
