Chief Minister Nitish inspects cutting-edge multi-level parking, subways.

Patna October 18, 2024: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the ongoing construction of a multi-level parking facility and subways at Patna Junction railway station on Friday.
The parking structure, located near Patns’s General Post Office (GPO), is designed to accommodate 32 buses and 225 cars. The initiative aims to reduce congestion in the highly crowded area around the railway station.
The official briefed the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar about the project:
Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of Urban Development and Housing of the Bihar government, briefed the Chief Minister on the project.
He explained that the parking facility would be directly connected to subways leading to Patna Junction, Hanuman Temple and Buddha Smriti Park. This connection will streamline access to major locations helping to ease traffic flow and improve convenience for commuters.
“The idea behind the project is to transform the area into a transportation hub, providing space for private cars, autos, busses and taxis. The initiative is expected to enhance accessibility while reducing congestion in one of Patna’s busiest areas.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed officials to speed up the project:
During the inspection of the multi-level parking and subways near Patna Junction, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar toured all three floors of the facilities and urged officials to expedite its completion.
To support the facility’s energy needs, a solar power system has been installed on the rooftop of the parking structure.
“The parking structure is 440 meters away from Patna Junction and will feature four travelators of varying length—18 meters, 30 meters, 45 meters and 55 meters—to ease pedestrian movement.
Additionally, there will be two escalators and two underground lifts. One lift and one escalator will be positioned at the parking facility and the other set near the Hanuman temple. The subways will be equipped with ventilation systems and air conditioning to ensure comfort for users.
Such infrastructural projects will immensely benefit the common people of Patna.
Several key officials accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspections, including Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Urban Development Minister Nitin Nabin, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Patna Divisional commissioner Mayank Warvade, Patna district magistrate Dr Chandrashekher Singh, Patna SSP Rajeev Mishra, president of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirmar Nigam Limited Shirshat Kapil Ashok and Patna Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parashar.
