Patna June 1: The legal and election cell of BJP filed a complaint against RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav in connection with the violation of model code of conduct before the election commission.

S.D Sanjay, BJP state president of legal and election cell claimed Lalu Prasad Yadav encouraged voters to vote for RJD when he went to the polling booth in Patna to cast his vote on Saturday.

“Lalu Prasad Yadav along with his wife Rabri Devi and daughter Rohini Acharya went to the polling booth at Veterinary College Patna for the polling on Saturday. During that time, Lalu Prasad Yadav was carrying a green colour towel on his shoulders. The towel had the pictures of his party symbol. Such an act is attributed to the violation of the model code of conduct and punishable act under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was displaying his party symbol lantern and encouraging people to vote for his party.”

“Carrying such an article inside the polling booth is a violation of Public Representative Act 130 and 171 of IPC. I have requested the election commission to take action against him and register FIR in this matter,” Sanjay said.
