Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India Gyanesh Kumar participated in an interaction with the BLOs programme at the Sushma Swaraj Auditorium of Nalanda University on Monday.
Around 500 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from Nalanda, Gaya, Nawada, Jehanabad, and Sheikhpura attended the programme.
During the interaction, Gyanesh Kumsr discussed the role of BLOs in strengthening the electoral process, the contribution of the academic community and the effective use of technology.
Gyanesh Kumar described BLOs as the foundation of India’s electoral system, emphasizing their crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll.
Gyanesh Kumar praised Bihar’s BLOs:
The Chief Election Commissioner praised Bihar’s BLOs for their work during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
He said their efforts had set an example not only for Bihar but also for the country and the world.
He also explained how India’s electoral system incorporates a system of concurrent audit, allowing political parties and candidates to maintain oversight at different stages of the election process.

According to Kumar, this multi-level oversight mechanism helps promote transparency and impartiality while reducing the possibility of errors during the electoral process.
Visit to historic Nalanda:
During his visit to Rajgir, Gyanesh Kumar also toured the historic Nalanda University ruins.
Reflecting on Nalanda’s ancient legacy, he said the site provides a sense of how advanced India’s civilization was in the field of knowledge and education thousands of years ago.

At the conclusion of the programme, Kumar thanked the officials and BLOs who participated in the interaction and ended his address with Jai Bharat.
