Pappu Yadav appealed to Lalu Prasad Yadav to give the Purnea seat to Congress.

Patna, April 1, 2024:  Five-time MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav has rescheduled his nomination for the Purnea Lok Sabha seat from April 2 to April 4, citing requests from his supporters.

Yadav, who recently merged his Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) with the Congress on March 20, had hoped to contest the elections on a Congress ticket. However, after the Purnea seat was allotted to the RJD under the INDIA bloc’s seat-sharing arrangement, he decided to contest as an independent candidate.

“My friends and supporters from across the Country want to participate in my nomination. Therefore, I have decided to reschedule it from April 2 to April 4. I appeal to the people of Purnea to bless me with their support,” Pappu Yadav said while addressing the media in Purnea.

Pappu Yadav requested Lalu Yadav to reconsider the seat-sharing decision:

Yadav also urged RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to reconsider the alliance’s seat-sharing decision and allot the Purnea seat to Congress in the spirit of coalition unity.

“I request Lalu Prasad Yadav to give the Purnea Lok Sabha seat to the Congress to respect the coalition pact. RJD is a senior partner in the Grand Alliance in Bihar,” he said.

Pappu Yadav insisted that he will contest on the Purnea seat:

Taking aim at his detractors within the INDIA bloc, Yadav declared that he would contest only from Purnea, dismissing suggestions that he should move to another constituency.

“Some leaders of the INDIA bloc do not want me to contest from Purnea, but I will fight only from this seat—not from Madhepura, Supaul, Khagaria, or Araria. My home is Purnea and the Seemanchal region. No one can ask me to leave my home,” Yadav asserted.

He further added, “I want to say to Lalu Prasad Yadav that I am part of your family. Don’t consider me weak. I do not believe in the politics of caste or religion.”
