Patna, May 16, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday announced that the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) will be established in Hajipur, in Vaishali district, on over 100 acres of land.

Sharing the development on X, the Chief Minister described it as a historic step towards transforming Bihar into a national hub for food processing.

He stated that the institute—set to be the third NIFTEM in the country—will boost research, technical education, entrepreneurship, and value addition in the food processing sector.

“This institute will open new opportunities for farmers, youth, and entrepreneurs, while giving fresh momentum to Bihar’s economic growth,” he said, reiterating the government’s commitment to development.

Samrat Choudhary’s push for industrial growth:

In a parallel development, the Chief Minister highlighted major approvals granted during the 67th meeting of the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), signaling a strong push toward industrial expansion in the state.

Among the key decisions, manufacturing units of Dalmia Cement and Ambuja Cement have been approved in Muzaffarpur and Kishanganj.

These projects are expected to significantly strengthen Bihar’s industrial landscape.

A total of 16 projects received Stage-1 clearance, while four projects were granted financial approval during the meeting.

Employment and regional impact:

Describing the move as a “new chapter” in Bihar’s development, Samrat Choudhary said that youth in Seemanchal and North Bihar will benefit from increased local employment opportunities, reducing the need for migrating to other states.

The proposed cement units are expected to generate direct and indirect employment while boosting allied sectors such as transportation, hospitality, and small businesses.

The investment is particularly significant for the Seemanchal region, where limited industrial opportunities have historically driven migration.

With new projects in districts like Kishanganj, local youth are expected to find livelihood opportunities closer to home.

Bihar is emerging as an investment destination:

Samrat Choudhary noted that Bihar is increasingly becoming a preferred destination for investors, attributing this trend to industry-friendly policies and an improved business environment.

The state government has been focusing on strengthening infrastructure, including land availability, power supply, and road connectivity, to attract large-scale investments.

Officials believe that these initiatives will play a crucial role in building a robust industrial ecosystem and positioning Bihar as a key economic hub in the coming years.
