Patna, May 8, 2026: A day after the cabinet expansion of the Samrat Choudhary government, several newly sworn-in ministers formally assumed charge of their respective departments on Friday and outlined their governance priorities.
Dilip Jaiswal is one of the ministers who takes charge of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department:
Senior BJP leader Dilip Jaiswal officially assumed charge of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department.
After taking over the department, Jaiswal acknowledged the challenges associated with the ministry and emphasized the need for administrative reforms.

The Revenue Department was affected by the strikes in the past. Due to strikes, several works in the department had come to a halt. We will work seriously on employees’ issues so that public work does not suffer,” he said.
His remarks come amid longstanding public complaints related to land disputes, mutation delays, and administrative inefficiency in revenue offices across Bihar.
Kedar Prasad Gupta assumes charge of the tourism department:
Newly appointed Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta also took charge of his department on Friday and received a warm welcome from officials.
Speaking after assuming office, Gupta stressed the importance of developing Bihar’s tourism sector to boost employment and economic activity.

Tourism will be developed rapidly across the entire state. Promoting tourism in Bihar is our objective. This will also strengthen employment opportunities and the economic growth of the state,” he stated.
Bihar has been attempting to expand tourism around Buddhist, Jain, Sikh, and historical heritage circuits in recent years.
Madan Sahani focused on the effective enforcement of prohibition:
Senior JD(U) leader Madan Sahani took charge of the Prohibition Department and immediately highlighted the challenges involved in enforcing the prohibition law in the state.
He stated that the prohibition policy had not been implemented in its intended spirit so far.
Ashok Choudhary took charge of the food and consumer affairs ministry:
Another senior JD(U) leader, Ashok Choudhary, assumed charge of the Food and Consumer Affairs Department.
After taking office, he issued a directive to officials to address the irregularities in ration distribution under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
With ministers now taking charge of their departments, the focus of the newly expanded NDA government has begun shifting from political balancing and cabinet formation toward administrative delivery and governance.
Political observers note that the ministers’ early statements indicate that issues such as land reforms, prohibition enforcement, tourism development, and welfare distribution are likely to remain key governance priorities for the Samrat Choudhary-led administration in the coming months.
