PMFME Scheme formalizes over 59,000 units across India.

New Delhi, March 13, 2026: Under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, a total of 59, 202 micro food processing enterprises have been formalized across the country as of December 31, 2025, since the scheme’s inception.
The initiative has mobilized a cumulative investment of Rs 17,015.8 crore nationwide.
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries tracks the sector-wise distribution of sanctioned units and closely monitors the participation of women entrepreneurs, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and aspirational districts.
Regular review meetings are conducted with lending banks and State/UT governments to assess progress and ensure effective implementation.
Progress on infrastructure and incubation centres:
The Ministry also reviews the operational status and utilization of common infrastructure facilities and incubation centres developed under the PMFME scheme. 108 loans have been sanctioned for Common Infrastructure Facilities. 88 loans have already been disbursed, and 59 facilities are currently operational.

For incubation support, 76 proposals have been approved from 24 States/ UTs, and 23 incubation centres have been commissioned so far.
Utilization levels are monitored through Joint Inspection reports conducted by the State Nodal Agency (SNA), Mentor Institute, and Host Institute, which verify physical progress and operational use of the facilities.
Employment generation and business growth:
A third-party mid-term impact evaluation study, completed on March 31, 2025, found that the PMFME Scheme has supported the creation of more than 2.8 lakh employment opportunities.
The study also reported significant improvements in business performance. Beneficiaries recorded an average turnover increase of about 1.7 times after receiving scheme support.
Over 85% of credit-linked subsidy beneficiaries reported improved market access and distribution networks.
Nearly 80% of SHG members experienced stronger market linkages after joining the scheme.
Initiatives to expand impact:
To strengthen the PMFME scheme’s reach and impact, the Ministry has launched several initiatives aimed at boosting employment, increasing turnover, improving market access, and promoting exports.
Awareness about the PMFME scheme is promoted through newspaper advertisements, radio jingles, exhibitions and expos, trade fairs, and buyer—seller meets.

The Ministry also holds regular meetings with lending banks and State governments to increase credit flow for micro food processing enterprises.
Implementation challenges are discussed at the Department of Financial Services level and in meetings of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC).
Additionally, the government facilities market access through national and international exhibitions, buyer—seller meets, and integration with e-commerce platforms.
