Patna, July 21, 2024: The forthcoming monsoon session of the Bihar assembly, starting from July 22, is expected to be quite tumultuous.

Monsoon session begins in the Bihar assembly from tomorrow:

The five-day-long monsoon session will end on July 26. The opposition led by Tejashwi Yadav has been highly critical of the Nitish Kumar government, particularly focusing on the poor law and order situation and a number of bridges and culverts have collapsed. Since June 18, over 15 bridges and culverts have collapsed in Bihar.

Opposition leaders attacking the state government: The leader of the opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, is proactive in releasing crime bulletins and data on infrastructure failures to highlight state government inefficiencies.

The opposition leaders are accusing the Nitish Kumar government of rampant financial irregularities across various departments. 

The India bloc had also staged a protest march in Patna on Saturday to highlight the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar.

Reacting to the upcoming monsoon session, Mahboob Alam, the MLA of CPI-ML, said, “We always raise questions that affect people. At present, we have been witnessing many unlawful incidents. The state government failed to maintain law and order situation effectively, and this has led to an increasing number of unlawful incidents in the state. The frequent collapse of bridges and culverts indicates widespread financial irregularities within various departments.”

With these pressing issues at hand, the monsoon session is anticipated to be highly charged and contentious.

State government defence:

Neeraj Kumar Bablu, the PHED minister of the Bihar government under the BJP quota, said, “We will give answers to the questions asked by the opposition during the monsoon session, but if they create ruckus inside the house, then it will not be possible. I am expecting a position approach from the opposition.”

Bablu expressed his hope for a positive and cooperative approach from the opposition during the session.

“We will give answers to the questions asked by the opposition. We are fully prepared for it,” said Jayant Raj, the building construction minister in the Bihar government.
