Super Cyclone Dana is impacting Bihar, the temperature dipped by 1 to 6 degrees Celsius.

Patna October 25, 2024: Super Cyclone Dana made landfall on the northern coast of Odisha and West Bengal early Friday morning.

It has been significantly impacting neighbouring states such as Bihar and Jharkhand.

IMD issued an alert over Super Cyclone Dana:

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for both states, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall, strong wind, thunderstorms and lightning on Friday and Saturday.

Super Cyclone Dana touched down around 5.30 a.m. on October 25, with its effects being felt about 20 km north-northwest of Hablikhati Nature Camp (Bhitarkanika) in Odisha.

Landslides have been reported due to the cyclone’s force, and as it moves inland, it is expected to weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm by Friday afternoon.

As Super Cyclone Dana moves inland, a change in the weather is already noticeable across Bihar, with cloud cover in more than 34 districts and temperatures dropping by 1 to 6 degrees Celsius.

The storm’s effects, including rain and wind, are expected to start showing in Bihar from Friday afternoon. Residents of Bihar and Jharkhand are advised to stay vigilant, as the storm could lead to localized flooding, disruption and power outages.

Moderate to heavy rain is expected in 24 districts due to Super Cyclone Dana:

Moderate to heavy rain is likely in eastern, south-central, and eastern Bihar, with Kosi and Seemanchal districts expected to see the heaviest downpour. Wind could reach a speed of 20-40 km/h on Friday.

On Saturday, rainfall will extend to north-east, north-central and south Bihar, with thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD continues to alert residents to remain indoors during periods of strong wind and rain, avoid unnecessary travel, and take precautions to stay safe during thunderstorms and lightning.

IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rain in 24 districts of Bihar including Rohtas, Buxar, Aurangabad, Gaya, Arwal, Patna, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Nawada, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Khagaria, Banka, Munger, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar and Supaul.
