Prashant Kishor claimed a debut score of 10% votes is a promising start for the Jan Suraj Party.
Patna November 23, 2024: Prashant Kishor, the chief of the newly formed Jan Suraj Party, expressed satisfaction with his party’s debut performance in the Bihar Assembly by-elections, securing 10% of the vote.
While acknowledging that the percentage is not very high, he characterized it as a promising start for a party that is only one month old and recently received its election symbol.
Prashant Kishor claimed his party is just one month old:
Prashant Kishor compared Jan Suraj’s 10% vote share to the performances of established parties in Bihar such as BJP: 22%, RJD 20%, and JD(U) 11%.
“This performance could have been better, but we should also keep in mind that our party is a month old, got the election symbol 10 days ago, and in the areas where elections were held, we did not even do padayatra, nor did we have any organization,” he said.
He noted that despite the challenges of being a new party without extensive campaigning or an organized presence in the contested areas, the party has laid a foundation to build upon.
Prashant Kishor expressed commitment to growth:
Prashant Kishor emphasized that the result, while modest, reaffirmed his long-term commitment to the Jan Suraj campaign.
“This is not an excuse. But looking at whatever it is, we are fully committed to making it even better. Even if 1% comes, there will be no reduction in our efforts and commitment. Even if it takes 10 years to make it successful, I will still remain with the Jan Suraj campaign,”
PK’s analysis of votes:
He highlighted that Jan Suraj’s support in Imamganj drew significantly from the NDA vote base, estimating that two-thirds of its votes might otherwise have gone to Deepa Manjhi (NDA).
In Belaganj, he pointed out that Muslim voters, who traditionally support RJD, showed a preference for JDU-BJP in this election.
Referring to booth-wise data, he emphasized: “You look at the booth-wise votes cast in the big Muslim villages of Belaganj. The Muslims There have voted for JDY and BJP, not for Jan Suraj.”
Jan Suraj’s Broader Implications:
Kishor noted that it has taken two years to establish the Jan Suraj campaign in Bihar, moving from being dismissed as irrelevant to being a recognized player. He believes the party has begun converting positive public sentiment into electoral results.
By analysing the results and highlighting his party’s achievements, Kishor remains optimistic about Jan Suraj’s prospects in Bihar politics, positioning it as a growing force committed to a long-term transformation of the political landscape.
