Patna June 18: The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) will question nine suspected candidates in connection with the NEET question paper leak case on Tuesday. The questioning will take place in the presence of their parents for two days in Patna’s EOU office.

EOU of Bihar police has constituted a Special Investigating Team (SIT) for the investigation of this case. Earlier, Patna police served notice to 11 candidates to join the probe. Two candidates will join the probe later on.

The examination of NEET was held on May 5 but examination mafias obtained the question papers a day earlier. The case was cracked by the Patna police by arresting 13 persons including 6 examination mafias, 4 students and 3 parents.

After obtaining the question paper and answers, the education mafias went with the question papers and answers to Learn Play School located in the jurisdiction of Ramakrishna Nagar police station area in Patna. There were 25 to 30 NEET candidates already there. All were made to memorize the exam question paper and its answers till 9:00 am on May 5.

The Patna police found partially burnt Xerox copies of three booklets on the premises of Learn Play School. EOU matched 74 questions found in the three booklets with the question papers of the examination held on May 5 and it was matched 100%.

In the course of the investigation, EOU has asked for the original copy of the question paper received on the morning of May 5 from NTA. However, NTA has not yet sent the original copy of the question paper to EOU, which is affecting the investigation.

The SIT wants to how their roll numbers and roll codes were reached at Examination mafias.

Patna police had found the roll numbers and roll codes of 11 candidates from the examination mafia. When the case was transferred to EOU, it asked the NTA to provide the details on those 11 candidates. After receiving the details, the notice was served to those 11 candidates to join the probe.

The EOU is also preparing to take remand of 4 arrested candidates to know if any involvements of 11 suspected candidates have been or not.

Earlier, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has also accepted some irregularities that happened at some places. He has said that if the senior officials of NTA are also found guilty in this, then strict action will be taken against them. Candidates and parents should be assured. The central government has taken this matter seriously. There is a need for improvement in NTA.

Now, it will be seen how many candidates reach their parents on the call of EOU. Everyone’s eyes are on it. All 11 candidates are from different districts of Bihar, of which seven are girls.

Meanwhile, a team of EOU will visit New Delhi to meet with NTA officials regarding this case.
