Patna, July 4, 2024: After Muzaffarpur, a case has been filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Bihar’s Sheohar district on Wednesday.
The case was filed by a person named Nitesh Kumar Giri. The complaint alleges that Rahul Gandhi’s recent statements in Parliament were derogatory towards the Hindu community, offending their sentiments.
The Sheohar court accepted the case against Rahul Gandhi:
The case has been registered under sections 299 and 302 of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS). The Sheohar district court has accepted the case (Number 162). The next hearing of the case is set for July 18.
Prabhashankar Singh, the lawyer representing Nitesh Kumar Giri, said his client is actively engaged in social and political work and keeps himself informed through various newspapers and TV news.
The controversy arises after a statement against Sanatan Dharma:
“Giri was watching the parliamentary proceedings on television when he heard Rahul Gandhi make derogatory remarks about Hindu Sanatan Dharma and saw him display images of Hindu gods disrespectfully, including calling Hindus violent, on Monday. Giri felt deeply insulted and claimed that the incident caused him significant distress,” Singh said.
Earlier on Tuesday, another case was filed against Rahul Gandhi in the Muzaffarpur district court by Divyanshu Kishore on similar grounds, with the next hearing scheduled for July 15.
