BJP expels 4 rebel leaders for their anti-party activities ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls.

Patna, October 27, 2025: As the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approach, political parties, including the BJP, have intensified internal discipline measures to prevent rebellion within their ranks.

In this contest, the Bhartiya Janata Party on Monday expelled four rebel leaders from the party for six years for contesting against official National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates.

Separate letters were issued from the office of Arvind Sharma, the BJP’s state headquarters in charge, in this regard.

The expelled leaders include Varun Singh of Bahadurganj, Anoop Kumar of Gopalganj, Pawan Yadav of Kahalgaon and Surya Bhan Singh of Barahara.

The party accused them of indiscipline and anti-party activities, noting that their action directly violated the NDA’s unity and seat-sharing agreement.

The saffron party warned that this action serves as a message to other potential rebels ahead of the polls.

Despite the expulsion, all four leaders have reportedly decided to continue their candidacies.

The NDA in Bihar comprises the BJP, JDU, LJPRV, HAM, and RLM—have finalized its seat-sharing arrangements with the BJP and JDU are contesting on 101 seats each, LJPRV on 29 seats and HAM and RLM are contesting on six seats each.

JDU also expelled 16 leaders in the last two days:

Before the BJP disciplinary action, the JDU had expelled 16 rebel leaders within two days for similar reasons.

The expelled JDU leaders, including some senior figures such as sitting MLA from Gopalpur Narendra Kumar Neeraj alias Gopal Mandal, former minister Sailendra Kumar, former MLA Shyam Bahadur Singh, Sudarshan Kumar, and several others.

JDU state general secretary Chandan Kumar Singh said that these leaders were acting against the party and alliance’s interest, and their removal was necessary to maintain discipline and unity within the NDA.
