BJP announced 2 candidates for Tarari and Ramgarh by-polls.

Patna October 19, 2024: The BJP has announced its candidates for two key constituencies in the upcoming by-elections in Bihar, which are scheduled for November 13.

Nominations are currently underway for four seats of Tarari, Ramgarh, Belaganj and Imamganj, with the last date for filing nominations being October 25.

Vishal Prashant and his father joined the BJP two months ago:

For the hotly contested Tarari seat, the BJP has fielded Vishal Prashant, son of prominent figure Sunilo Pandey, who has a reputation as a Bahubali (Strongman) in the region and was previously an MLA.

Sunil Pandey and his son joined the BJP two months ago with the expectation of contesting the Tarari by-poll.

Triangular contest expected between BJP, Jan Suraj and CPI-ML:

Tarari is seen as a high-stakes seat, with Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party fielding Lt General Shri Krishna Singh, a retired Indian Army Officer who served in the Gorkha battalion for 41 years and four years in the Army tribunal.

Kishor has contrasted his candidate’s clean image with that of Vishal Prashant, emphasizing his commitment to clean politics in Bihar.

Tarari seat was left vacant by CPI-ML leader Sudama Prasad who won the Arrah Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 election. Sources in the Grand Alliance said that the seat will go to CPI-ML. The contest of Tarari is expected to be triangular in this by-poll.

BJP has given another chance to Ashok Kumar Singh from Ramgarh:

In Ramgarh, the BJP has nominated Ashok Kumar Singh, a notable figure in the Kaimur district.

Singh previously won the Ramgarh seat in 2015 but lost to Sudhakar Singh in 2020. The BJP is giving him another chance to contest the by-poll and reclaim the seat.

In Imamganj, Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS) is contesting, with the seat left vacant after Jitan Ram Manjhi was elected as an MP from Gaya.

Though, unconfirmed, sources suggest that Manjhi’s daughter-in-law Deepa Manjhi may be the party’s candidate.

The Belaganj seat has been allotted to JD(U), but the party has not yet announced its candidate.

With the RJD expected to reveal its candidates on Sunday, the competition for these four seats is intensifying ahead of the by-polls.
