Lalu Prasad Yadav files nomination for 13th term as RJD National president, set for unopposed re-election.

Patna, June 23, 2025: RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav filed his nomination for the post of national president of the Rastriya Janata Dal for a record 13 terms on Monday.

He was accompanied by his son and leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav, along with his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and many other party leaders reached the party headquarters in Patna.

RJD office turned into a celebration ground as hundreds of enthusiastic party workers gathered, raising slogans of Lalu Yadav Zindabad.

The occasion reaffirmed Lalu Yadav’s enduring influence in Bihar politics, with party insiders confirming that no other candidate has filed for nomination, making his re-election a near certainty.

Lalu Prasad Yadav has completed 12 terms as national president and has now filed for the 13^th. It’s a matter of great happiness that we will continue to get his guidance,” Tejashwi Yadav told reporters.

Official announcement on July 5, to be celebrated as Lalu Prasad Yadav Samman Diwas:

The deadline for filing the nomination ended at 2 pm, and with Lalu Yadav standing unopposed, the official announcement of re-election is expected on July 5.

 The party is planning to observe the day as “Lalu Samman Diwas” in celebration of his leadership and legacy.

“The sentiments of poor people are deeply attached to Lalu Prasad Yadav. They expected him to lead RJD again,” said Abdul Bari Siddiqui, the party’s national general secretary.

Jagdanand Singh’s Absence Sparks Speculation:

The absence of former Bihar RJD president Jagdanand Singh during the nomination filing has stirred political speculation. There have been reports of internal differences between him and Tejashwi Yadav in recent times, and his absence is being interpreted by some as a subtle message of discontent.

Despite this, the mood among party workers was upbeat, with renewed enthusiasm witnessed across the cadre.

“The RJD organization is strong and our workers are fully prepared for the elections,” Tejashwi said.

“With Lalu Yadav’s re-election, the party will go into full election mode.”

With the official coronation now just a formal, RJD is set to launch its electoral campaign under the symbolic and strategic leadership of Lalu Prasad Yadav, aiming to consolidate its vote base ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly polls.
