Prashant Kishor claimed a delegation of 5 students will meet the chief secretary to resolve BPSC issues.

Patna December 29, 2024: After a daylong “Chhatra Sansad” at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Prashant Kishor claimed a delegation of five students is set to meet Bihar’s chief secretary, Amrit Lal Meena, on Sunday evening.

Prashant Kishor confirmed the meeting of students and the Chief Secretary:

The development was confirmed by Prashant Kishor, Chief of the Jan Suraj Party, who also participated in the event.

Prashant Kishor highlighted the significance of the meeting, noting that it comes after 13 days of protest during which no official had addressed the students’ grievances.

“The chief secretary, who holds the second-highest position in the administration after the chief minister, is now ready to engage with the delegation to resolve the issue,” Kishor told media in Patna.

Prashant Kishor further stated, “If the government fails to meet the students’ demands, the next steps in the interest of the students will be decided and announced on Monday.”

Earlier in the day, a large number of students joined the Student Parliament alongside Prashant Kishor, showcasing the strength of the movement and the urgency of their concerns.

The student protests in Patna escalated on Sunday evening as demonstrators, following the Student Parliament in Gandhi Maidan, decided to March toward the Chief Minister’s residence.

Breaking through barricades at the JP Roundabout, they moved towards Dak Bungalow Chowk.

In response, the Patna Police deployed a large force along the routes to the Chief Minister’s residence to manage the situation and maintain order.

BPSC candidates are demanding the cancellation of the entire examination:

The protests stem from grievances related to the 70th  BPSC Combined Examination, conducted at 912 centres across Bihar. On December 13, a disturbance at the Bapu Examination Centre in Patna led to the cancellation of the exam at that specific location.

In response, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) scheduled a re-examination at the Bapu Centre for January 4. However, this decision has left many candidates dissatisfied.

The protesters argue that the irregularities were not confined to the Bapu Centre alone, and they are demanding the cancellation of the entire examination. They claim widespread inconsistencies in the process, rejecting BPSC’s limited response as inadequate.

The ongoing agitation reflects a deeper frustration among the candidates and has drawn significant attention, with leaders like Prashant Kishor supporting their cause.

The outcome of their meeting with Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena is now seen as crucial in addressing the growing unrest.
