Patna, July 30, 2026:

RJD National Working President and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav has expressed confidence that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD0 is on course for a decisive victory in the Bankipur Assembly by-election.

Speaking to reporters during polling, Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the party was receiving encouraging feedback from polling booths and wards across the constituency, indicating strong public support for RJD candidate Rekha Gupta.

Tejashwi Yadav urged workers to closely monitor the election till counting:

According to Tejashwi Yadav, RJD workers and leaders closely monitored the election process throughout the day, and the feedback they received suggested that voters had backed the party in large numbers.

He further claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Dal (BJP) was heading towards defeat in the by-election and asserted that the electorate had voted in favour of political change in the constituency.

The RJD leader also said that the people of Bankipur had voted beyond considerations of caste, class and religion and had extended broad support to Rekha Gupta.

He expressed confidence that this support would translate into a convincing victory once the votes are counted.

Addressing the media, Tejashwi Yadav said that when the results are declared, the people would see the ‘Lantern,’ the election symbol of the RJD, shining in Bankipur.

He also thanked the voters of Bankipur, along with RJD workers and alliance leaders, for their efforts during the election campaign and polling process.

Triangular contest in Bankipur:

The Bankipur Assembly by-election witnessed a triangular contest involving BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, and RJD candidate Rekha Gupta. The outcome will be known after the counting of votes on August 3.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has recorded 33.57% voting till 5 PM.
