Patna, February 14, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the historic city of Rajgir in Nalanda district, combining development review with a strong administrative message on Saturday.

The Chief Minister began his tour with an inspection of the Ganga Reservoir at Ghoda Katora in Giriyak block, where he issued strict instructions to officials to submit a detailed progress report.

His firm tone underscored the government’s intent to accelerate stalled infrastructure work.

Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone of the light and sound project:

Later, Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for a sound and light system at Venuvan, symbolically linking heritage conservation with modern development.

The move carried a clear political message; development and cultural legacy will go hand in hand.

During his visit, Nitish Kumar chaired a high-level review meeting on preparations for the Malmas Fair, focusing on security arrangements, traffic management, cleanliness, and facilities for devotees.

Officials were instructed that no negligence would be tolerated in matters related to faith and public safety.

However, questions continue to loom over the government’s ambitious promise of Ganga water to every household.

Under the Ganga Reservoir Part-2 plan, land acquisition remains a major hurdle.

Lands remain to be acquired for the Ganga Reservoir project:

About 517 acres of land is to be acquired in Nawada district’s Madhuban area, including 275 acres of private land, but the required land has not yet been made available.

The second phase aims to supply water via pipeline to Bihar Sharif.

Political observers believe the Rajgir visit was not merely a routine inspection but a clear warning to the administrative machinery.

Whether this intervention speeds up reservoir construction or the project becomes another flashpoint in Bihar’s political debate remains to be seen.
