New Delhi, January 29, 2026: India’s private space economy is witnessing rapid expansion, with approximately 1,050 private companies currently offering their capabilities across various activities on the IN-SPACe Digital Platform (IDP), according to official data.

The Indian Space economy allowed private participation:

The growth follows the implementation of the ISP-2023, which enables private entities to participate across the entire spectrum of space activities, including launch services, satellite manufacturing and operations, data acquisition and dissemination, ground stations, and allied services.

To support early-stage innovation and entrepreneurship, Rs 2.36 crore has so far been disbursed under the IN-SPACe Seed Fund Scheme and Pre-Incubation Entrepreneurship Program, providing financial assistance to startups and emerging space enterprises.

IN-SPACe’s Decadal Vision Report outlines a comprehensive 10-year roadmap to expand India’s space economy from USD 8.4 billion in 2022 to USD 44 billion by 2033, including USD 11 billion in exports.

ISP allows industrial empowerment and international outreach:

The vision is anchored on platform creation, industrial ecosystem development, industry empowerment, and international outreach:

The Decadal Vision Strategy is structured around three core pillars—revenue generation, ecosystem development, and catalyzing space sector activities.

Revenue generation is expected through the commercialization of launch services, satellite and ground operations, Earth observation, satellite communication, satellite navigation, and the emerging in-orbit economy.

The space economy is being further catalyzed through targeted demand creation, enhanced international collaboration, and promotion of a space culture, aimed at expanding markets, encouraging customer adoption, and enabling Indian space industry players to scale services and exports.

These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to positioning India as a globally competitive space power, driven by private sector participation, innovation, and sustainable growth.
