All India Civil Services sports championship begins in Patna; 1,084 athletes participate.

Patna, December 13, 2025: All India Civil Services Sports Championship 2025-26 is being held at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna, from December 13 to 15, bringing together civil servant athletes from across the country in a grand display of athletic excellence and sportsmanship.

A total of 1,084 participants are competing in the championship, including 702 males, 328 females and 54 officials.

Representatives from all 28 states and 9 Union Territories, including Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, are taking part in this sporting event.

Wide range of athletic events in the civil services championship:

The Civil Services championship features a comprehensive range of athletics competitions.

On the opening day, the morning session included the 100-metre and 400-metre races, with athletes showcasing remarkable speed and determination on the track.

Other events scheduled during the championship include sprint, long-distance races, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and relay races.

A special highlight of the event is the veteran category, featuring athletes aged 40 to 60 years, which is expected to promote meaningful interaction between experienced competitors and younger participants, blending experience with youthful energy.

World-class facilities at Patliputra Sports Complex:  

The Patliputra Sports Complex, equipped with a synthetic track, international-standard field event facilities, and modern infrastructure, is hosting the championship at a high professional standard, ensuring a seamless experience for athletes and officials of the civil services alike.

Speaking on the occasion, Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit said it was a matter of pride for the state to host the All India Civil Services Athletics Championship.

“It is especially gratifying that all the participants are government employees who have kept their passion for sports alive despite professional responsibilities,” he said.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to sports development, he noted that Bihar established a separate Sports Department in 2024, following which several international and national sporting events have been successfully hosted.

Pratyay Amrit added that the state government has placed special emphasis on strengthening sports infrastructure in recent years.

Sports academies are being activated at the district level, and multiple schemes are being implemented to encourage young talent.
