Patna, November 28, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday transferred Rs 10,000 each to 10 lakh women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana.

The funds were transferred directly through DBT into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

A special program was held at the Chief Minister’s residence, attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha and other dignitaries.

According to officials, the beneficiaries include around 9.5 lakh women from rural areas and about 50,000 from urban regions.

All are associated with Jeevika groups and have already undergone training to engage in economic activities and self-employment.

Nitish Kumar transferred the funds to women associated with the Jeevika groups:

The state government said that so far, nearly 1.5 crore women have received financial assistance under the scheme, with each beneficiary receiving Rs 10,000.

This latest transfer covers 10 lakh new beneficiaries, while payments to other verified applicants will be made soon.

The application process for the scheme was conducted in two phases.

Urban women applied online, while rural beneficiaries submitted forms online at the Panchayat level.

Priority was given to women already linked to Jeevika groups.

The Nitish Kumar government claims the scheme is significantly contributing to women’s economic empowerment by encouraging entrepreneurship and self-reliance through self-help groups.

The Rs 10,000 grant aims to help women initiate or expand small businesses.

Nitish Kumar announced the scheme on August 29, 2025:

The scheme was announced on August 29 and implemented within a month. Earlier, on September 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally launched the scheme and transferred the first installment to 75 lakh women.

The second installment followed on October 3, 2025, when CM Nitish Kumar transferred Rs 10,000 to 25 lakh beneficiaries.

Notably, several disbursements under the scheme were made during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the Bihar Assembly elections, prompting opposition parties to allege that the ruling NDA used the scheme to influence voters.

They also accused the government of violating election protocols through cash transfers.
