Patna, April 19, 2025: Bihar recorded 48.23% polling in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections across four constituencies on Friday, according to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) H.R. Srinivasa.

He clarified that this is a provisional figure, and the final numbers are yet to be compiled.

Lower polling in this election than in 2019:

Among the four seats, Gaya (Reserved) registered the highest voter turnout at 52%, followed by Jamui and Aurangabad at 50% each, while Nawada saw the lowest turnout at 41.5%.

For the conduct of polls, the Election Commission deployed 9,549 control units, 9,531 ballot units, and 10,218 VVPATs.

Of these, 34 control units, 31 ballot units, and 152 VVPATs were replaced during mock polling, while another 22 control units and 185 VVPATs had to be changed later in the day.

Given the Naxal-affected nature of some areas, the poll body also deployed a helicopter for aerial surveillance and kept an air ambulance on standby for emergencies.

Voters boycotted in 5 stations of Aurangabad and Nawada:

Polling, however, was boycotted at five stations in Aurangabad and Nawada districts.

In Aurangabad, voters abstained at polling centres 223 Aurangabad, 225 Gurua, 231 Tikari.
