To boost tourism, the Bihar government allowed people to book state guest houses.

Patna December 4, 2024: In a major move to boost tourism and make accommodation more accessible, the Bihar government has revised its rules to allow common people to stay at government guest houses and circuit houses at affordable rates.

Previously, these facilities were restricted to government officials, ministers, judicial officers, and bureaucrats. Now, anyone can book these accommodations at very low prices.

People can get affordable accommodation in air-conditioned rooms as low as Rs.1000 per day and general rooms are available at just Rs.500 per day.

People can book rooms online at guest houses or circuit houses in Patna as well as in districts across Bihar.

Government officials can book Air-conditioned rooms at the cost of Rs.250 per day and general rooms at Rs. 100 per day. Both the government and common people have to pay 18% GST for every booking.

Boost Tourism in Bihar:

This initiative is designed to make it easier for tourists and people traveling for short stays to access affordable accommodation, thus promoting tourism and making travel more budget-friendly.

This policy change will greatly benefit travellers who need a place to stay for a short duration but have previously been priced out by expensive hotel costs. The government’s move to offer these facilities at a nominal cost is seen as a significant step towards making Bihar more tourist-friendly and accessible.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal of promoting tourism and providing quality services at affordable rates for all visitors.

The Bihar government has taken a step forward in modernizing its infrastructure and promoting transparency with the inauguration of a new website for booking government guest houses, circuit houses, and other facilities online.

Enhanced Features of New Website:

The Building Construction Minister Jayant Raj has launched the new website, offering improved functionality including online payment options available for all bookings.

The Building construction department has prepared an action plan for the maintenance and cleanliness of government buildings across Bihar.

District headquarters like Bhabua, Sasaram, Samastipur, Saharsa, Nawada, Gaya, Rajgir and Bettiah now have inspection buildings or guest houses for booking.

Convenience for pilgrims to boost religious tourism:

Patna Sahib Bhawan is strategically located near significant Sikh Pilgrimage sites, ensuring easy online booking for pilgrims to boost tourism.

The integration of an online portal simplifies room and hall booking at prominent locations, such as Patna Sahib Bhawan, which is close to important Sikh pilgrimage landmarks like Harmandir Sahib Gurudwara, Bal Leela Gurudwara and Prakash Punj Bhawan. This is expected to significantly benefit pilgrims and tourists visiting Bihar.

With this initiative, the government showcases its commitment to offering affordable, accessible, and hassle-free accommodation options, supporting tourism and ensuring efficient management of public resources.

The booking for Gyan Bhawan’s multipurpose hall is Rs. 2.5 lakh per day. It has a capacity of 800 people.
