Patna May 28: The intensity of cyclone Remal has weakened a bit after its landfall in the coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh but its effect is being seen in the adjoining states like Bihar and Jharkhand.
The Meteorological Department of Patna has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain and thunderstorms in 9 districts of Bihar on May 28. At the same time, it has also given yellow alerts of heat waves in 14 districts as well.
Moderate to heavy rain is also expected in East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Sheikhpura, Supaul, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Banka. At the same time, as per the forecast issued for Tuesday morning, the possibility of rain and thunderstorms is expected in 8 districts such as Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnea, Katihar and Bhagalpur.
Due to the Remal cyclone, the wind blew at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Most of the cities of North Bihar, Kosi, Seemanchal and East Bihar remained cloudy, while the maximum temperature of most cities including Patna fell.
While people will get relief from the scorching heat in some parts of the state, the department has issued a warning regarding heat waves in some parts. It has yellow alert heat wave in Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Arwal, Bhojpur, Aurangabad, Gaya, Jehanabad, Patna, Nalanda, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Nawada and people have been asked to be cautious for the next 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours, the Buxar has recorded the highest of 43.2 degrees Celsius in Bihar. On the other hand, due to the Ramal storm, the temperature of all the districts except Buxar, Valmiki Nagar of Madhepura, Forbesganj of Araria and Samastipur dropped and remained below 40 degrees.
Ramal Cyclone hit the sea coasts of Bangladesh and West Bengal late on Sunday night with a speed of 135 kilometers per hour. More than 6 persons were killed due to cyclone Remal in West Bengal.
