Patna, June 1, 2024: Polling is gaining momentum across Bihar’s eight Lok Sabha constituencies with the Election Commission registering 24.25% voting till 11 am.
The polling has picked up its pace despite scorching heat and high humidity, with voters standing in long queues outside booths since morning.
Several prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, BJP candidate Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Patliputra BJP candidate Ram Kripal Yadav, cast their votes earlier in the day.
The Election Commission has registered an impressive turnout at the polling stations:
The Election Commission recorded 24.25% polling statewide till 11 am, including 27.92% in Karakat, 27.68% in Patliputra, 27.09% in Jehanabad, 25.89% in Buxar, 24.30% in Nalanda, 22.09% in Sasaram, 21.19% in Arrah and 19.33% in Patna Sahib.
In the Agiaon Assembly by-election, voting stood at 19.20% till 11 am.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar voted in Bakhtiyarpur, his native village. Ravi Shankar Prasad and Nand Kishore Yadav exercised their franchise in Patna Sahib.
Ram Kripal Yadav, BJP’s Patliputra candidate, also cast his vote.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav voted in Patna before making political remarks to the media.
Tejashwi Yadav predicts INDIA bloc victory:
Speaking to reporters, Tejashwi Yadav claimed the INDIA bloc is poised to form the next government at the Centre.
“We are going to win more than 300 seats and form the government. Our main issue is youth unemployment. We have promised jobs, and people are voting for us,” he said.

He is scheduled to attend an INDIA bloc meeting in New Delhi at 3 pm.
On exit polls, he maintained a sceptical stance.
“We do not believe in exit polls. There will be many polls in the evening, which should we trust? The real verdict will come on June 4. Ground reality shows people have faith in the INDIA bloc.”
