Setback for RLJP, Building Construction Department asked it to vacate the bungalow in 7 days.

Patna October 25, 2024: The Building Construction Department of the Bihar government has issued a notice to Pashupati Kumar Paras, the national president of Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), to vacate the government bungalow located at 1 Wheeler Road within seven days.

The property was originally allocated to Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in 2006, but following a split in 2021, Paras and his RLJP faction continued occupying it asserting control with the support of five MPs.

Building Construction Department has taken action after changed political dynamics:

This notice follows a shift in political dynamics in Bihar where Chirag Paswan, the national president of Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPRV), since aligned with BJP and secured 5 seats in the 2024 election, reinforcing his presence as an ally in the central government and currently serving as a union minister.

Meanwhile, the Building Construction Department, through a notice issued by Joint Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, reiterated that the bungalow’s allocation remains specific to the LJP, not RLJP, underscoring RLJP’s lack of legal claim to the property.

The situation has escalated with prior directives including a 15-day deadline previously set by the joint secretary, to vacate the property.

The department had issued another notice dated October 22 and warned that failure to vacate the bungalow within the final seven-day period would lead to enforced eviction, intensifying the pressure on Paras amidst shifting alliances in Bihar’s political landscape.

RLJP responded to the Building Construction Department about a case pending in court:

The RLJP has responded to the Building Construction Department’s eviction order, stating that the issue is still under consideration by the Patna High Court.

However, the department maintains that since there is no stay order from the court, RLJP is required to vacate the bungalow by October 30.

This ultimatum has sparked a political row, placing RLJP in a challenging position amid shifting alliances and mounting pressure from the administration.
