Patna March 21, 2025: The opposition, led by Tejashwi Yadav and Rabri Devi created a huge uproar in the Bihar assembly and council during the budget session on Friday and demanded the resignation of CM Nitish Kumar over his alleged unusual behavior during the national anthem at a sports event.
At the Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 inauguration in Patna CM Nitish Kumar were seen talking, laughing and folding his hands during the national anthem.
Tejashwi Yadav and opposition leaders are accusing him of insulting the anthem and are demanding that the post of Chief Minister.
They shouted slogans like “Rashtra Gaan Ka Apman, Nahi Sahega Hindustan’’ (India will not tolerate the insult of the national anthem), which were raised in the Bihar Assembly and Council.
Tejashwi Yadav and opposition leaders accused Nitish Kumar:
As soon as the Bihar Assembly convened, the opposition created a ruckus, bringing proceedings to a halt. Tejashwi Yadav stated: “We personally respect the CM, but India will not tolerate disrespect to the national anthem at any cost.’’
The government however is downplaying the issue, saying Nitish Kumar is a respected leader who upholds national traditions.
The controversy over Nitish Kumar’s actions during the national anthem continued to dominate Bihar’s political landscape on Friday, with opposition protests escalating inside the Legislative
Assembly and Council.
The Speaker announced that the issue would be discussed during Zero Hour, but Tejashwi Yadav insisted on speaking Immediately.
When the Speaker denied him time, opposition members started protesting and disrupting the proceedings.
Despite the uproar, Question Hours continued, with the government defending Nitish Kumar.
Government’s Defence:
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary stated: ‘’The people of Bihar know well how much respect the CM has for the national anthem and national traditions.
There is no need for anyone to question it forcefully.’’
He dismissed the opposition’s allegations as unnecessary political drama.
