CM Nitish Kumar’s quirky gesture with ACS S Siddhartha stuns officials in Patna.

Patna, May 26, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar once again caught everyone by surprise during an official event on Monday with his trademark unconventional style.

During an appointment letter distribution ceremony at the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute in Patna, Nitish Kumar unexpectedly placed a sapling on the head of the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Education Department, S Siddhartha, sparking a wave of surprise and amusement.

The moment occurred during the customary welcome when ACS S. Siddhartha presented a potted plant to the Chief Minister as a token of respect.

Rather than simply accepting it, Nitish Kumar took the sapling and, in a spontaneous move, placed it on Siddhartha’s head.

The unexpected gesture left officials stunned for a moment before laughter broke out in the auditorium.

Siddhartha himself appeared visibly surprised by the Chief Minister’s act, which quickly became the talking point of the entire ceremony.

Such actions frequently give political opportunity to take a jab. Leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav has, on several occasions, criticized the Chief Minister’s public demeanour and may seize on this latest incident for fresh political commentary.

While some see Nitish Kumar’s behaviour as light-hearted and humanizing, others question the appropriateness of such acts during formal events. Either way, the CM’s unexpected plant-on-head moment has once again ensured he remains at the centre of Bihar’s political conservation.
