Patna July 10: Former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav sharply attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his actions during the inauguration of the third phase of the JP Ganga Pathway in Patna on Wednesday.

Tejashwi Yadav criticized Nitish Kumar’s actions, calling him helpless, weak, and incapable chief minister of the world.

“The Chief Minister’s lack of authority and respect from his subordinates is a significant reason for the increasing crime, corruption, migration, and administrative chaos in Bihar. The situation is such that even a single employee or officer listens to Nitish Kumar. It highlights perceived administrative disarray under his leadership,” Yadav said.

During the event, CM Nitish Kumar expressed his displeasure over the delay in the project’s completion and dramatically offered to touch the feet of an engineer from the JP Ganga Pathway project to expedite the work.

This gesture was met with surprise and discomfort from the officials present, including Additional Chief Secretary of the Road Construction Department Pratyaya Amrit, who stopped the Chief Minister from doing so. Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary were also in attendance.

Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday, inaugurated the third phase of the JP Ganga Pathway. During the event, he expressed his displeasure over the delay in the project’s completion and, in a dramatic gesture, offered to hold the feet of the officials to get the work done faster.

The newly inaugurated phase of the JP Ganga Pathway allows commuters to travel the 17 km distance from Digha to Patna Ghat. The total length of the pathway from Digha to Didarganj is 20.5 km, with ongoing work on the remaining 3.5 km of pillar installation and segment fitting. He has asked the officials to complete the project by next year.

The first phase of the JP Ganga Pathway, from Digha to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), became operational on June 24, 2022. The second phase, from PMCH to Gaighat, opened to commuters on August 14, 2023. Nitish Kumar directed the construction company to complete the remaining project up to Didarganj by next year.

The state government plans to extend the pathway to Koilwar on the west side, with the Chief Minister asking for a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the extension, aiming to increase the pathway’s length to 90 km.
