Patna, September 9, 2025: With the Bihar Assembly polls inching closer, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has intensified its pitch to project party chief Chirag Paswan as a key contender for the chief minister’s chair within the NDA.

On Tuesday, a poster appeared on Patna’s roads portraying Chirag Paswan as the Kohinoor of Bihar.

Published by Sheikhpura district president Imam Gazali, the poster carried the slogan, “Bihar Mange Chirag, Tan-Badan Ka Noor Hai, Chirag Bihar Ka Kohinoor Hai,” with Chirag Paswan depicted wearing a crown.

Such campaigns by his supporters have become frequent, each time pushing the message that Chirag is the CM face of NDA in Bihar.

Strong track record of Chirag Paswan boosts demands:

Chirag’s confidence stems from the party’s stellar performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where it contested five seats and won all five.

Riding on this momentum, LJP (RV) leaders are pressing for a respectable seat share in the Assembly polls.

Jamui MP and Chirag Paswan’s brother-in-law Arun Bharti recently reminded that the party contested on 43 seats in 2015 (as part of the Grand Alliance) and 137 in 2020 when it went solo.

Accordingly, he claimed that the party expects anywhere between 43 and 137 seats this time.

A challenge for the BJP and JDU:

Chirag’s assertive stand has complicated seat-sharing talks within the NDA.

The BJP and JDU, the alliance’s two biggest players, now face the tough task of accommodating LJP’s high demand without unsettling the internal balance.

Adding to pressure, former Chief Minister and HAM (Secular) patron Jitan Ram Manjhi has separately demanded 20 seats for his party.

With Chirag emerging as an aggressive claimant to the CM post and allies pushing for larger shares, the NDA’s seat-sharing negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming days.
