Patna AIIMS confirms the detention of four students.

Patna July 18: Patna AIIMS’s executive director Dr GK Paul confirms that four MBBS students were detained by CBI in connection with the NEET UG question paper leak case on Thursday.

CBI detained Patna AIIMS’s four students: A CBI team detained the four students on Wednesday and questioning of them is currently underway.

“The CBI officials informed us about the suspected activities of our four students in connection with the NEET question paper leak case on Wednesday. They have shared the names of the suspected MBBS students. They came on Wednesday evening and took them for questioning. Those students have not returned to the hostel so far,” Paul said while interacting with the media persons on Thursday.

“We are surprised with such activities of our students. As the matter is very serious and related to the health ministry, we are cooperating with the CBI officials,” he said.

He also shared the names of four students. They are identified as Chandan Singh, a resident of Siwan, Kumar Sanu of Patna, Rahul Anand of Dhanbad and Karan Jain of Araria district. All of them are third-year students of Patna AIIMS.

“On the instructions of CBI officials, we have sealed their rooms in the hostel located inside the campus of Patna AIIMS,” he said.

Seizures of laptops and mobile phones of Patna AIIMS students: The CBI officials confiscated their laptops and mobile phones to gather evidence about their suspected links with the NEET UG paper leak case.

Leads comes after arrest of NEET paper leak accused:

Sources have said that those four MBBS students of Patna AIIMS came under the radar of CBI following the arrest of Rakesh Ranjan alias Rocky. He is considered one of the masterminds of the NEET UG question paper leak case apart from the main accused Sanjeev Mukhiya. He has alleged connections with many MBBS students of Patna AIIMS and Ranchi.

The NEET UG examination was held on May 5 this year and Patna police exposed the paper leak on the same day. The case was later transferred to the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of Bihar police and later transferred to CBI.

CBI has arrested over 30 alleged persons in this connection so far.
