Nitish Kumar Inaugurated a world-class sports complex in Rajgir and reviewed Khelo India Youth Game preparations.

Patna May 2, 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Rajgir on Friday and inaugurated the state-of-the-art sports facilities at the Bihar Sports University and State Sports Academy campus.

This initiative is being hailed as a significant step toward putting Bihar firmly on the national sports map.

As part of his visit, Nitish Kumar is also reviewing preparation for the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, which will be hosted across five major districts: Rajgir, Gaya, Patna, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai.

His itinerary includes an inspection of the Bihar Police Academy to assess its preparations in ensuring security and deploying modern training technologies.

Nitish Kumar’s dream project in Rajgir:

The newly inaugurated sports complex, spread over 90 acres and developed at a cost of Rs.750 crore, includes an international-standard athletics track, football and hockey stadiums, swimming pool, courts and arenas for basketball, and volleyball. Kabaddi. Wrestling, Badminton, archery, shooting range and crying velodrome.

This expansive complex is designed to provide international-level training to emerging athletes in Bihar and beyond.

The First phase of this complex was inaugurated in 2024:

This inauguration follows the first phase of the project, launched on National Sports Day (August 29, 2024), during which nine international athletes were felicitated and an exhibition match by the Indian women’s hockey team was held.

The Chief Minister emphasized the critical role of the Bihar Police Academy during major events like Khelo India, highlighting the need for robust law enforcement training and preparedness.

CM Nitish Kumar is accompanied by several senior ministers and officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Sports Minister Surendra Mehta, Building Construction Minister Jayant Raj and Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar.

This comprehensive visit not only reinforces Bihar’s commitment to sports development but also signals a new era of youth engagement and infrastructural growth in the state.
