NDA will send Upendra Kushwaha to Rajya Sabha.
Patna July 2: BJP will send Upendra Kushwaha to Rajya Sabha on its quota.
Bihar BJP President Samrat Chaudhary confirmed the development. While sharing his views, Choudhary said: “Upendra Kushwaha is a senior leader. When the notification of the Rajya Sabha election is issued, he will be sent to Rajya Sabha. In this regard, all the constituent parties of the NDA have agreed.”
The decision was made collectively by all NDA allies to maintain the support of the Kushwaha community, which plays a significant role in Bihar politics.
Such a decision comes after Upendra Kushwaha lost the Lok Sabha poll from Karakat seat. He contested this seat on an RLM ticket on behalf of the NDA. He finished the third position. CPI-ML candidate Rajaram Singh Kushwaha won by a large margin, with Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh coming in second.
Upendra Kushwaha has a history of serving as a Rajya Sabha MP and has also been a member of the Lok Sabha, Legislative Assembly, and Legislative Council.
Following the development, Upendra Kushwaha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all NDA constituents for their trust in him. He emphasized the importance of working together to ensure the NDA’s victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
“I would like to thank all the allies. Special thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Everyone will work together strongly to achieve the target of 2025 and will definitely win,” Kushwaha said.
Earlier, RJD MP Misa Bharti and BJP MP Vivek Thakur have both resigned from their Rajya Sabha memberships after winning Lok Sabha seats from Patliputra and Nawada, respectively.
Although the Election Commission has not yet announced the Rajya Sabha election, Upendra Kushwaha will certainly file for one of these seats.
