Nand Kishore Yadav warned Bhai Virendra for reaching at CM chair on 4th day of the winter session.

Patna November 28, 2024: The Bihar assembly witnessed a heated confrontation over seating arrangements, escalating tensions between the opposition and the ruling coalition on Thursday.

The uproar began when RJD MLA Bhai Virendra and others approached the Chief Minister’s chair, prompting a stern warning from Bihar assembly speaker Nand Kishore Yadav.

Nand Kishore Yadav condemned the act as a severe breach of decorum and warned of serious consequences.

Minority Welfare Minister Jama Khan also criticized the incident, calling it “hooliganism” and asserting that the people of Bihar would hold the opposition accountable in the 2025 elections.

Bhai Virendra clarified his stand after Nand Kishore Yadav’s warning:

Bhai Virendra later clarified that they were not sitting in the Chief Minister’s chair but were protesting to highlight the ongoing violation of seating norms.

According to him, their action was a protest against the disregard for fixed seating arrangements in the house, particularly by some rebel MLAs from the RJD and Congress have been sitting on the ruling side since the Nitish Kumar government proved its majority after joining the NDA.

He argued that this lack of action by Nand Kishore Yadav is what prompted their symbolic move.

RJD leaders were opposing inaction against rebellious MLAs:

RJD’s Alok Mehta questioned why these rebel MLAs, including Chetan Anand, Prahlad Yadav, Neelam Devi and others, continue to violate seating arrangements without consequences.

“If others don’t sit in their allocated places, we might also go and occupy ministers’ seats,” Bhai Virendra said.

JDU MLA Dr. Sanjeev termed the incident “unfortunate” emphasizing that such actions tarnish the dignity of the Assembly.

Meanwhile, Mukesh Roshan, an RJD MLA, accused the BJP of plotting to occupy power and linked the ongoing issue to the larger political struggle for the Chief Minister’s chair.

Both the opposition and ruling coalition have written to the Nand Kishore Yadav to address the behaviour of rebel MLAs, but the lack of action has intensified the discord.

Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav also expressed anger over the matter, highlighting the deepening rift between the parties.

The incident reflects not just a procedural crisis but also the broader political struggle within Bihar’s complex legislative landscape.
