Mallikarjun Kharge criticized PM, Modi, over ED action, unfulfilled promises, and social divide in the Buxar rally.

Patna April 20, 2025: Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government during a rally in Bihar’s Buxar district on Sunday.

Addressing a charged crowd Kharge accused the Modi government of using central investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to intimidate political opponents, particularly in the National Herald case involving Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

“The Modi government is using ED to create fear, but let me tell you-Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is not afraid of your charge sheets. They will never come under your pressure Kharge asserted.

Mallikarjun Kharge questions BJP’s legacy and defends Congress contributions:

Taking dig at the BJP’s record over the past 11 years, Kharge challenged Prime Minister Modi to name even one original idea introduced by his government.

“What has Modi done for the country in 11 years? Just name one new idea,” Kharge said.

He contrasted this with the Congress’s legacy, highlighting contributions like AIIMS, IITs, IIMs, ED, CBI, and other national institutions. He credited Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for laying the foundations of modern India and appointing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as Law Minister, emphasizing the inclusive and visionary governance of early Congress leadership.

“Modi’s Politics Is Built on Lies” Kharge:

In a dramatic moment, Khagre played a clip of PM Modi’s past speeches on iPad, accusing him of misleading the nation with false promises during the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign.

Kharge listed out what he called “11 lies,” including a promise to bring black money within 100 days, deposit Rs 15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account, creation of 2 crore jobs per year, a special status for Bihar and special package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore for Bihar.

“None of these promises have been fulfilled. Modi only misleads people to get votes,” Kharge said, urging voters to see through what he described as “false propaganda.”

Sharp attack on Nitish Kumar and social popularization:

Mallikarjun Kharge also lashed out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, calling him a “paltimar” a politician who frequently changes alliances to retain power.

“BJP is still in power because of people like Nitish Kumar who keep switching sides. If you don’t vote for Nitish, BJP will fall automatically,” he said, appealing for support to the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan).

In a pointed remark on social harmony, Mallikarjun Kharge described the Waqf Amendment Bill as a “conspiracy” by the Modi government to stir communal divisions.

“There were no fights among people over these issues before. But today, PM Modi is fueling tensions between Hindus and Muslims, upper caste and backward caste,” he alleged.

He also accused the BJP and RSS of not caring about the welfare of women, especially in Bihar.
