BJP’s Ashwini Choubey leaves Patna meeting after no seat on stage, clarifies exit.

Patna, July 2, 2025: Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Ashwini Choubey found himself in an awkward situation during the BJP state working committee meeting at Gyan Bhavan, Patna, on Wednesday, as he did not get a seat on the stage during committee meeting event ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.

The meeting was inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who had arrived to address party leaders and strategize for the upcoming elections.

As Rajnath Singh reached the stage, Ashwini Choubey was seen walking alongside him, with BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, and other senior leaders following.

Upon reaching the stage Ashwini Kumar Choubey left the stage quickly and exited the venue.

Ashwini Choubey’s response:

When reporters asked about his sudden departure, Choubey said: “There is no such thing. I had to leave for another program at Gandhi Maidan. I came here to meet Rajnath Singh.” On being asked specifically about not getting a chair, choubey remarked: “The whole hall is for us.”

Political Context:

Ashwini Kumar Choubey, a senior BJP face in Bihar, won the Buxar Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and 2019 and served as Union Minister in the Modi cabinet.

However, he was not given a ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, and BJP lost the Buxar seat this time.

Choubey has been known for his strong support for PM Modi in Bihar: This incident reflects undercurrents within Bihar BJP as it gears up for the 2025 Assembly Elections.

It shows possible discontent among senior leaders sidelined during organizational programs.
