Ashwini Choubey said only an original member of the BJP should be selected for the state president post.

Patna, June 27, 2024: After former Minister Sanjay Paswan voiced displeasure over the BJP’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, Ashwini Choubey, another senior party leader and former Union Minister, on Thursday, publicly expressed anguish and targeted the state leadership.

Ashwini Choubey targeted Samrat Choudhary without taking his name:

Without naming the state BJP president and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Choubey said that the party’s state unit should be led by someone who is an original BJP worker.

“We can never tolerate goods being imported from other places into the party. The BJP was nurtured by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. We can never leave our core principles. It is important that the post of state president is held by an original member of the organization,” Choubey said in Bhagalpur.

He added that the post of president, whether district, state, regional or national, should always go to an organizational loyalist.

Ashwini Choubey, who won the Buxar Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and 2019, was denied a ticket this time.

The BJP fielded Mithilesh Tiwari instead, who lost to the RJD’s Sudhakar Singh.

Samrat Choudhary, currently both Deputy CM and state president, began his career in the RJD, later moved to JDU, HAM, before finally joining the BJP.

His term as state president began in March 2023.

Ashwini Choubey also said that the BJP should contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly election on its own.

“It is my wish, and I have conveyed it to the Party. The NDA government in Bihar should be formed under the BJP’s leadership. Every worker should start working in this direction,” he said.

However, he also added that Nitish Kumar would continue to be taken along and that the question of who becomes Chief Minister should be decided after the election.
