Anurag Thakur criticized Congress, Lalu Prasad over the 1975 Emergency.

Patna, June 25, 2025: Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress Party and RJD National President Lalu Prasad Yadav, calling out their potential legacy while addressing the press in Motihari on the anniversary of the Emergency.
Anurag Thakur stated, “Just like a fish struggles outside water, the Congress party is suffering without power. And it will suffer again when it loses the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 along with RJD.
The BJP is observing June 25 as Black Day, marking the imposition of the Emergency by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975, which led to the suspension of fundamental rights and freedom of the press across the country.

The Emergency lasted 21 months, ending in March 1977.
Lalu Prasad has become a joke in Bihar, says Anurag Thakur:
Attacking Lalu Prasad Yadav, Anurag Thakur said, Lalu Yadav was once a product of the Emergency movement, but today he has become a joke in Bihar. He now sits in the lap of the Congress and has ignored the principles of Dr BR Ambedkar. He is putting the photograph of Ambedkar in his feet.”

Anurag Thakur further added that the people of Bihar have not forgotten the Jungle Raj under Lalu Prasad’s regime, and they will once again hold him accountable in the election.
Political heat rises ahead of Bihar elections:
With Bihar Assembly Election 2025 drawing closer, BJP leaders are intensifying their visit to the state, sharpening their attacks on the Congress-RJD alliance.
The strategy aims to revive public memory of past governance and project the NDA as a stable and development-oriented alternative.
