RCP Singh joins Jan Suraj, merges party in presence of Prashant Kishor ahead of Bihar poll 2025.

Patna, May 18, 2025: Former Union Minister RCP Singh on Sunday formally joined the Jan Suraj Party in the presence of party founder Prashant Kishor, marking a significant political development ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.

RCP Singh also announced the merger of his own party with Jan Suraj.

The event, held in Patna, was not just symbolic of a new alliance but also served as a platform for sharp political attacks on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party, Janata Dal (United).

Prashant Kishor in the presence of RCP Singh said JDU is a sinking ship:

Welcoming Singh, Prashant Kishor said, “We thank RCP Singh from the bottom of our hearts. His experience and credibility will strengthen the Jan Suraj Party. Our coming together is an effort to prevent the BJP from capturing power again through the instability caused by Nitish Kumar’s politics.”

Kishor made a direct appeal to JDU workers, calling the party a sinking boat and urging them to abandon the ship and join the Jan Suraj Party instead.

“JDU is being run by five contractors who have no political standing. If there is any party in Bihar today that is free from crime, corruption and communalism, it is Jan Suraj,” he asserted.

Attacking the Nitish Administration:

Highlighting Nitish Kumar’s fading control over his party and government, Kishor claimed.

“Nitish neither runs the JDU nor the government anymore. Everything is being managed by inexperienced people who have hijacked the system.”

Kishor alleged that even district-level leadership is not known to the current top JDU leadership, underscoring the disconnect with grassroots workers.

RCP Singh’s Political Comeback:

For RCP Singh, this marks a significant move after a politically turbulent period. Once a trusted confidant of Nitish Kumar and a JDU Rajya Sabha MP, Singh later fell out of favour and briefly aligned with the BJP before forming his own party. However, with limited traction, Singh has now merged his outfit with Jan Suraj, signalling a fresh political gamble.

Both leaders emphasized their mission to challenge the JDU-BJP alliance, blaming them for weakening Bihar’s governance.
Kishor also said:

“We have seen how Ashok Chaudhary and former Congress President Sadanand Singh would request us to speak with Lalu Prasad, only to be disrespected. This is the kind of politics we want to change.”

He further alleged a “jungle raj of officers” was prevailing in Bihar, and pledged that Jan Suraj would bring back accountability and a people-first governance model.

When asked who would be the Chief Ministerial candidate if Jan Suraj wins, Kishor responded tactfully:

“At least you have accepted that the Chief Minister will be from Jan Suraj. We will decide the name later.”
